Abstract

Mineral resources of the Donetsk People’s Republic are described. The area of the DPR has a unique geological structure combining features of folding and platform. The geological and tectonic structure of the area is characterized. Different types of mineral resources are evaluated and the promising trends in their development are identified. Alongside with coal fields, the DPR holds deposits and occurrences of other solid minerals. The Republic also possesses many and various nonmetallic mineral resources and explored ore reserves. The latter include iron (ferruginous quartzite), mercury and antimony, vanadium–titanium magnetite, zirconium, lithium and rare earths. Occurrences of polymetals, copper and gold are still waiting for appraisal.
