Minerals mining-and-processing tailings subsurface and above-surface accumulation mechanism is characterized. A conclusion is drawn, that the only practical method of decreasing environmental impact consists in processing tailings utilization after metals extraction. Metals recovery technology by means of combined mechanical and chemical activation in disintegrators is recommended. The results of lead and zinc experimental recovery from the Sadonskoye deposit complex ores processing tailings are presented.
