Abstract
The state of non-ferrous and ferrous metallurgy in Russia at the beginning of the 21st century is assessed. Problems related to the ore-and-raw materials base of the Russian metallurgical industry, as well as solving prospects, are analyzed. Various aspects of the sector development are considered.
