Abstract
Influence of growing medium on optical characteristics of the TlBr crystals as material for uncooled semiconductor X- and gamma rays detectors is studied. The samples have been grown by the Bridgman–Stockbarger technique in different mediums such as air, argon, vacuum. Difference in the resaults of light transmission in a short-wave range and light diffusion at 0,36 μm wave length measurements are caused by impurity presence in form of TlBr decomposition products. Air-grown and vacuum-grown crystals posessed better and the worst optical characteristics respectively.
