Since the installations at the former coke plants August Thyssen and since 2003 at the most modern plant Schwelgern the PROven (Pressure Regulated Oven) system has been used worldwide for emission reduction. With the pressure in the coke ovens adapted to the individual carbonization status the fugitive emissions are lowered considerably. Also during charging of ovens nearly no visible emissions do appear. This is because of the suction in the g. c. main that is used very effectively for charge gas transfer. Until today more than 2000 ovens worldwide have been equipped with the PROven system. Simultaneously several developments and improvements were integrated.
