The paper presents the main scientific directions of metal forming, established historically in Magnitogorsk State Technical University (MGTU) and existing at the present time. The field of theoretical and practical problems solving successfully by the scientists of the university are marked. Fruitful collaboration between the scientists of Magnitogorsk scientific school of metal forming and collectives of other high schools (first of all — National Research Technological University “Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys”) occupies the important place in scientific activity.
