France is planning to create a specific type of nuclear power plant—underwater NPP. DCNS, which is closely connected with France’s military industry, has made an offer to design and construct the unit. The new project, known as Flexblue, is an underwater modular NPP with power capacity from 50 to 250 MWe. The station should operate at a depth of 60-100 m, and at a distance of several km from the shore.
