The article contains analysis of integrated assessment of safety of Russian nuclear plants, as well as prospects of implementation of projects aimed at prevention of serious and major accidents, similar to Fukushima NPP accident in Japan and Chernobyl NPP in Ukraine. Possible solutions to problems linked with spent fuel management and closing of nuclear fuel cycle are covered.
