Реферат | On the basis of geometric indices, one distinctive peculiarity of a rock massif is a primarily evaluation of a dimension stone deposit, from the point of view of potential stone block production. Earlier studies have provided the basis for formulating of some requirements to be met by a rock massif which can be used for stone block production. There was proposed an approach, which is based on a differentiation of various types of dimension stone deposits by identifying the distinctive deformation regimes in the subsurface layer of the massif. This article discusses an approach to evaluation of the stressed state of a deposit to predict its block production potential. The deposit is located in the Salmi rapakivi granite massif (South-west Karelia). Karelia has a variety of granites, but igneous granites make up no more than 6 % of its area. Therefore, the Salmi multi-phase rapakivi granite massif provides the unique opportunities for the study of Precambrian magmatism and for the prospecting of deposits which can be quarried for production of a dimension stone. Authors have particularly studied the fracturing and orientation of fault grooves on the faces of deposits fractures to assess the effect of stress fields on the technological parameters of the massif. One distinctive feature of the proposed approach is that the tectonophysical evaluation of the area shows whether a dimension stone deposit is good for the production of large blocks. |
