This article is devoted to the memory of Russian scientist M. V. Lomonosov. 2011 year was announced as a year of M. V. Lomonosov and a year of a coast-dweller culture.
UNESCO accepted the 300-th anniversary of M. V. Lomonosov as a holliday of a global culture. This anniversary was celebrated not only in Russia, but also abroad. Conferences, forums, readings and competitions were held during all year in Germany, Israel, Norway, Armenia, Transdnestria and in different Russian cities. The 40-th Lomonosov readings “Born by Russian Land” were the main event of the anniversary year.

The long-term special-purpose program “Lomonosov motherland” became the scale project for the Arkhangelsk region with the scope of the preparation to the 300-th anniversary of M. V. Lomonosov. This program had a purpose to save and popularize the cultural and historical heritage of M. V. Lomonosov and to increase the interest to his motherland.
The ethnographical exhibition “Arkhangelsk oboz” became another striking anniversary event, which was devoted to the 300-th anniversary of M. V. Lomonosov. This exhibition was opened in Moscow in January 2011. The exhibition was organized under the aegis of the government of Arkhangelsk region. It represented the heritage of Pomorye – small motherland of scientist.
The second project “Lomonosov oboz” was organized to draw the interest to Russian scientific history. Three hundred schoolchildren from Archangelsk, Vologodsk, Yaroslavl regions repeated the scientists` way from Kholmogory to Moscow: the whole way took 10 days. The diamond deposit in Arkhangelsk region was named after M. V. Lomonosov. This deposit was developed by “Severalmaz” company. The company operates in saving the scientific and creative heritage of M. V. Lomonosov, along with the regional authorities, industrial consolidations, representatives of the social sphere, personalities of the culture and art.
