Abstract

Transition to market relations in the early 90s of the XX century had a negative impact on the work of design organizations. An additional complication was introduced by the adoption of the decision on corporatization. At the beginning of the 2000s, there was a situation when in the project, mainly, there were pensioners and young specialists who had just graduated from universities. So in 2007 at USTU-UPI a specialized section «Design of industrial (metallurgical) enterprises» was created to train bachelors. Since 2012, bachelors have had the opportunity to continue their studies in the first master's program in the post-Soviet space «Project and Investment and Construction Management in Metallurgy». The first graduation of the masters took place in 2014. The article presents some of the results of the implementation of the master's program «Project and investment and construction management in metallurgy» for six years. An overview of the directions and topics implemented by undergraduates in the process of preparing final qualifying works is given. The issue of adjusting the training program for designers - project managers technologists with an increase in the number of hours of practical and independent studies in the main professional discipline is considered. The necessity is indicated and the value of the excursions to specialized enterprises is assessed. A modified list of disciplines that a master student must master in the learning process is given. Difficulties arising with the implementation of the program, the actual suspension, due to the reduction of budget places for training, are noted.
