Tsvetnye Metally
The articles, included in the second issue of “Tsvetnye Metally” (Non-ferrous metals) journal (February, 2015), share the subject area of heavy and rare metals. This issue shares the questions of theory and practice of ore concentration, production and processing of non-ferrous metals, complex use of crude ore, and economics and management of production.
Editorial board of the journal made a decision of formation of a new section “Material science”, including several articles, connected with the basic tendencies in technological development of real sector of economy. Scientific substantiation of obtaining of new materials with unique properties and modification of well-known materials for the purpose of increasing of their quality are the worldwide trends of technological development. Scientific analysis of various aspects of formation of materials` structure allows providing the high quality of products, which, in turn, defines the economic efficiency of production in whole. Editorial board of the journal hopes that scientific community will be interested in new possibilities of increasing of products quality, initiating the new researches and developments in this important sphere of scientific activity.
This issue includes the articles of the members of “Gipronikel” Institute.
The section “Rare metals” gives the review of the basic extraction systems, used for separation of rare-earth metals, while the attention is paid to application of tributhylphosphste as extraction agent.
On February 23, 2015, there was a 100-th anniversary of one of the founders of All-Russian Institute of Light Alloys, outstanding Russian scientist and correspondent-member of Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir I. Dobatkin. His huge creative heritage includes the main object of his scientific interests - the problem of structure formation in the time of crystallization, which defined his interest to any kind of casting. Successful development and application of new casting methods became possible mostly owing to his participation in their development. The article by G. I. Eskin “Non-dendrite crystallization of metallic materials” shows the research materials, which show the sagacity of V. I. Dobatkin, who paid a great attention to the development of works on non-dendrite crystallization of metallic materials.
