Gornyi Zhurnal
Gornyi Zhurnal, issue 5, May 2018 presents articles devoted to the 80th anniversary of the Donskoy Ore Mining and Processing Plant in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The articles touch on history of the Plant, its technological and socio-economic development and prospects for increasing production of mining and processing.
The Journal continues focusing on hybrid open pit/underground mining. This issue contains the article prepared by researchers from the Institute of Mining, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which is concerned with the specific features of stress state in host rocks of the Vysokogorsky iron ore deposit under mining by hybrid open pit/underground method.
An important economic problem of energy supply of remote mineral-bearing areas in the Trans-Baikal region (including the Chiney titanium–magnetite deposit) is raised in the article by D.F. Dabiev. The implemented calculations have revealed economical efficiency of developing local energy sources based on wind power plants and diesel power stations.
In May 2018, the 73rd anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War is celebrated. This event is described in the article on history of gold mining during the war years by V. B. Kuznetsov.
