The current issue announces an expansion in the editorial board of the Journal. V.Yu. Bazhin has been elected editor-in-chief. The issue introduces Mr Bazhin and features his address to the readers.
The November issue contains a separate section devoted to the memory of academician L.A. Vaisberg. The students and colleagues of this prominent researcher took on from him and engaged themselves in research efforts aimed at developing Russia’s mining and non-ferrous metals industries. The section features an article telling about additive manufacturing powders made in Russia from scrap metal. It also describes the use of clay-containing tailings as precursors for geopolymer synthesis.
To mark the 60th anniversary of the Smolensk Branch of the National Research University Moscow Power Engineering Institute, two articles were published in the Automation section. One of them touches on linear induction motors being developed for the non-ferrous metals industry that are designed to minimize the risk of failure and thus the damage caused by unscheduled shutdowns. The other article describes solutions that can help improve the energy efficiency, electromagnetic compatibility and service life of multilevel inverters to be adopted by concentration plants and metal producers.
This issue gives warm birthday wishes to V.A. Dmitriev and K.V. Fedotov.
The Chronicle section features materials commemorating L.A. Vaisberg, E.N. Selivanov and I.F. Khudyakov.
Of interest would be the information about V.A. Tolstov‘s book about Avtandil Tskhovrebov.
