This paper presents the results of pilot tests on the applicability of the Knelson CVD technology, conducted for various concentration plant products at a mine in the Trans-Baikal Territory. The tests were carried out using centrifugal separators with continuous varying concentrate output, installed in a secondary grinding circuit at the discharge of a central discharge mill. The studies were conducted to establish the optimal flow of fluidizing (loosening) water by its sampling in different supply conditions, as well as to determine the recovery and concentration rates for gold and lead at different concentrate yield values by setting different closing values for respective pinch valves, taking samples from the process flows and determining the actual mass yield of concentrate. A series of tests were also carried out at the optimal settings of the concentrator established in the course of previous experiments. It was found that gold recovery showed no clear dependence on the concentrate yield, which is typical for a closed grinding circuit; however, the available results consistently demonstrated good recovery into the rough concentrate. An aggregate estimate indicates that, at the concentrate output of 10–20 %, 40–60 % of gold is recovered, with similar values observed for lead. The article presents statistically significant models that describe the dependence of the tailings and concentrate yields on various adjustable equipment parameters and substantiates the effectiveness of these models, enabling their application in further studies. The statistically significant relationship between the concentration yield and the adjustable parameters enables preliminary calculations of the potential of CVD technology introduction at mining and processing enterprises.
