Main tendencies and predicted parameters for the Russian metallurgy industry development, described in «The Russian metallurgy industry development strategy for the period until 2020» are considered. Three scenarios for the Russian economy development are presented (inertia, energy-source and raw materials, innovative), taken as a basis for the metallurgy sector development prediction. Main attention is paid to innovative development scenario, being the target both for the industry and the national economy as a whole.
